“Konkamoya, which means “following the wind” in the local language, Nyanja, is where the wonders of nature come together and invigorate the senses and soul: a symphony of animal and bird sounds carried by the wind as it blows through the bush and plains, combined with an intense kaleidoscope of color from dawn to dusk and into the night.”
Konkamoya was created in 2010 after Andrea Porro, the owner, discovered this corner of paradise, hidden in the largest of Zambia’s protected areas, Kafue National Park. Konkamoya is the only international lodge on Itezhi-Tezhi Lake. The lodge offers the traveler unique displays of pristine nature and the African wilderness in all its glory, coupled with luxurious and intimate hospitality.
Overlooking the lake, the Konkamoya is surrounded by open plains, beautiful bush landscapes and endless horizons to explore. Adventures within these locations will bring you in close proximity to many of Africa’s most beloved creatures: herds of elephants roaming en masse, the shy and elusive leopard stalking its prey, or a pride of lions passing down their secrets of hunting the next generation – whatever the day will be unique and extraordinary.
Small and exclusive, with just four luxury safari tents sleeping a maximum of 8 guests (a family tent can be arranged by prior arrangement, bringing the maximum number of guests in the camp to 10). Entirely rebuilt to Andrea’s very exacting specifications in 2019, Konkamoya ensures an intimate and unparalleled connection to the vast wilderness that surrounds it.

The curtains
Each of the four brand new luxury tents offers an abundance of space in which to relax. The large king-size bed sits at the center of 67 square meters, packed with sheets of the finest Egyptian cotton, a sanctuary from which to admire the incandescent colors of the dawn or watch the playful afternoon runs of impala and puku completely unaware of the human presence.
Fully screened from the smallest creatures of the African bush, the tent also features 360-degree privacy screens that can be opened or closed at will, providing the panoramic view that best suits your mood. Even the en suite showers have been designed to capture this view and give you the feeling of being at one with nature.
The comfortable living area inside the tent is designed so that you can enjoy moments of tranquility between one activity and another, catch up on some reading or simply sit and reflect on your experiences in this enchanting place.
Each tent also features an intimate veranda where you can enjoy your morning coffee or tea as your senses awaken to the day.
La Lapa
The Lapa is a key element of the Konkamoya safari experience. Designed to blend seamlessly with the natural elements that surround it, this updated, modern space is where our chefs will serve your meals and our bartenders will create all sorts of drinks to quench your thirst. The elevated dining, bar and lounge areas, capturing views across the plains to the lake, are airy and bright, well furnished. The furniture is created by Andrea and his team from sustainable wood sources and using local craftsmen.
The infinity pool with its sundeck offers a space to cool off, soak up the rays and quietly observe your surroundings, while the raised firepit is ideal for sipping after-dinner drinks while recounting the day’s activities and prepares for the next one.
The kitchen
Konkamoya’s cuisine blends local and international flavors and uses the best seasonal ingredients. Our recently completely rebuilt kitchen, with large preparation areas for the delicious focaccias, fresh pasta and of course desserts, is, like any Italian home, the epicenter.
From here the cooks and our kitchen team will delight your sense of taste with all sorts of excellent dishes and snacks, taking into account any specific dietary requirements. At Konkamoya, you can count on an Italian influence in the dining experience, which now, after the construction of the wood-fired oven, could also include traditional thin-crust pizza.
The guest menu will be organized and managed personally by Caterina.
